Backend Engineer

Build the EPDEMA API — deliberation rooms, RSVP flows, AI copilot orchestration, and Paystack billing on NestJS/Prisma/Postgres.

Skill Set: Node.js, NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Redis, BullMQ, Socket.IO.

Full Job Description

You will own services in the EPDEMA backend: NestJS with Prisma on Postgres, Redis and BullMQ workers for reminders and notifications, and Socket.IO for realtime deliberation rooms. Expect real ownership of schema design, performance, and observability.

Responsibilities

You will work with the platform team on the decision-room spine of the product.

  1. Own features end to end — from design conversations through deployment and monitoring.
  2. Write clean, tested, reviewable code and participate actively in code review.
  3. Collaborate with design and product to scope work honestly and ship on schedule.

Requirements

We care about fundamentals and shipped work more than years counted.

  1. Solid fundamentals in data structures, HTTP, and relational databases.
  2. Experience shipping and maintaining at least one production application.
  3. Clear written communication and comfort working in a remote-first team.
